We’ve expanded our pinstripe merino wool selection with a new fabric range. The collection is finer in hand, sharper in stripe definition, and richer in color depth — offering cleaner drape, stronger structure, and a surface that holds its appearance wear after wear. Now available in 10 pinstripe colorways from boardroom navy to off-white.
Most women’s pinstripe suits are built from men’s patterns scaled down, and it shows. The shoulders sit wide, the trouser breaks at the wrong point, and the pinstripe runs slightly off because the seams were never placed for your body. Baron builds this suit to your measurements in a Super 130s merino-cashmere blend, with canvas front construction and rounded peak lapels. We send a free test suit first. You approve the fit. Then we cut the final.
Follow these simple steps to ensure your custom garment fits you perfectly. All you need is a flexible measuring tape.
You do not have to get this perfect. Send us your best measurements and we craft a free test garment to your numbers first, so the fit is confirmed on your body before we cut your final cloth. Every piece is custom made to your measurements, and the test garment is yours to keep.

How to Take Your Own Measurements for a Perfect Fit
All you need is a flexible measuring tape, a mirror, and ideally a friend to help with the shoulder and back measurements. Wear close-fitting clothing so the tape sits against your body, stand naturally with your weight even on both feet, and keep the tape level and snug with room for one finger. Below is every measurement we may ask for. You do not have to get each number perfect: we send a free test garment before cutting your final cloth, so the fit is confirmed on your body first.

Questions & Answers
Frequently asked questions about measuring yourself
How do I measure my bust, waist and length for a custom garment?
Use a flexible tape. For the bust, wrap it around the fullest part with the tape level. For the waist, measure the narrowest part, usually just above the belly button. For length, measure from the shoulder or natural waist down to your desired hem. Keep the tape level and snug with room for one finger, and measure over close-fitting clothing rather than bulky layers.
How do I measure my waist, hips, thighs and rise?
Measure the waist at the narrowest point, the hips around the widest part of your hips and seat, and the thigh around the fullest part of the upper leg. For the rise, sit down and measure from the front of your natural waist, down between your legs to the seat. Keep the tape level and snug throughout.
Where can I get my measurements taken?
Any local tailor or seamstress can take your measurements in a few minutes, and many fabric or bridal shops offer measuring too. You can also measure yourself at home with a flexible tape using this guide, or have a friend help with the back and shoulder measurements. Because we send a free test garment before cutting your final cloth, the fit is confirmed on your body regardless of who takes the first measurements.
What do I need to measure myself?
Just a flexible measuring tape, a mirror, and ideally a friend to help with the shoulder and back measurements. Wear close-fitting clothing so the tape sits against your body, and stand naturally with your weight even on both feet.
How tight should the measuring tape be?
Snug but not tight. The tape should sit flat against your body with just enough room to slip one finger underneath. Pulling it too tight gives measurements that are too small, and leaving it loose makes the garment baggy.
What if my measurements are not perfect?
That is exactly why we send a free test garment. Give us your best measurements, and we build a test version in a stand-in cloth to your numbers and ship it to you. You try it on, we adjust from there, and nothing is cut in your final fabric until the fit is confirmed.

Women’s Pinstripe Suit: The Moment Is Now, and the Fit Has to Be Yours
Andy Sachs wore a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier pinstripe suit in The Devil Wears Prada 2 and every fashion publication immediately declared pinstripes back. Emily Charlton spent the film in precision tailoring and pinstripes. The costume designer built the entire wardrobe around what she called “feminine menswear”, the idea that a woman in a beautifully cut pinstripe suit commands a room differently than a woman in a dress. Not louder. More deliberately.
The problem is that most women’s pinstripe suits are not built around a woman’s body. They are men’s suit patterns scaled down, which means boxy shoulders, a trouser break that lands wrong, and lapels that sit flat when you move. You end up wearing a suit that looks like it belongs to someone else. The authority you wanted is undermined by the fit before you say a word.
Baron builds this suit to your measurements in a Super 130s merino and cashmere blend, with a canvas front, rounded peak lapels, and a trouser cut designed for a woman’s frame. Before we cut the final cloth, we send you a free test suit. You try it on, tell us what needs adjusting, and the final suit is cut to the corrected pattern. The pinstripe lands where it should. The shoulders sit correctly. The suit works.

Free Test Suit: The Fit Has to Be Exact Before We Touch the Final Cloth
A pinstripe has no tolerance for a bad fit. The vertical lines of the stripe run the full length of the jacket and trouser, and any error in the shoulder seam, chest, or trouser rise is visible in the stripe itself. You cannot hide it. Off-the-rack pinstripes sit crooked on most women because the suit was never cut for their proportions. A stripe that runs true tells you the suit was made correctly.
Before we cut your final suit, we make a complete test suit in cotton to your initial measurements, jacket and trousers, and ship it to you via trackable courier. You try it on. You check the shoulder line, the lapel roll, the trouser break, the waist suppression. You send us your notes. We correct everything in the pattern, then cut your final suit in the merino-cashmere blend. The test suit is yours to keep. No return required.
This is how a pinstripe suit gets made correctly. The stripe tells the truth about the fit, and we want it to tell the right story.
Three Ways to Wear It
The Full Two-Piece
Jacket and matching trousers together, with a silk camisole or fitted turtleneck underneath. This is the power read, the one that makes a room recalibrate when you walk in. Dark gray or navy for boardroom weight. Light gray for a slightly softer authority. Black for events that call for something unambiguous.
The Jacket as a Blazer
The pinstripe jacket worn over a different trouser, wide-leg trousers in cream or camel, or tailored dark denim. This breaks the formality of the full suit while keeping the structure. The rounded peak lapel reads as intentional and fashion-literate rather than strictly corporate. Works for fashion-industry events, editorial shoots, or anywhere the full two-piece would be too much.
The Trouser as a Statement Bottom
The pinstripe trousers alone, paired with a fine-gauge knit or a tailored shirt. The trousers carry the authority of the full suit without the jacket’s formality. This is the most wearable configuration for everyday professional settings, the pinstripe is present without being a declaration. Add the jacket when the day demands it.
Who This Suit Is For
The Woman Who Has Never Found a Pinstripe That Fits
You have tried the high-street options and owned a few. They always fit somewhere and not somewhere else, the jacket sits right in the chest but the shoulders are too wide, or the trousers fit at the waist but break at the wrong point on your shoe. You have worn them anyway, knowing the fit is approximate. This suit is built around your measurements, not a size chart. The fit is not approximate.
The Woman Who Dresses for the Room She Wants to Command
You understand that how you are dressed affects how you are read before you speak. You want a suit that does work for you, not one that you have to overcome. The canvas front means this jacket molds to your body over time rather than holding its shape against you. Within a few months of wearing it, it fits better than the day it arrived. Most women have never experienced this in a suit, because most women’s suits are not built this way.
The Woman Inspired by the Moment
The Devil Wears Prada 2 put pinstripe suits back on every fashion radar this month. You want the suit, not a fast-fashion version that approximates it. The Jean Paul Gaultier Andy Sachs wore is vintage and inaccessible. This suit is bespoke, built to your measurements, in a wool-cashmere blend that would read correctly in any editorial context. The moment is now. The suit should match it.
The Woman Who Wears Tall
Standard sizing was not designed for you. The trouser break is never right. The jacket sleeve hits a few inches short. Petite sizing overcorrects in the other direction. This suit is made to your measurements, your inseam, your sleeve length, your rise. The pinstripe lands proportionally on your frame. If you are tall, you know immediately when a garment was built for someone else. This one is built for you.

Questions About the Women’s Pinstripe Suit
Why do most women’s pinstripe suits never fit correctly?
Most women’s suits, including pinstripe suits, are based on scaled-down versions of men’s suit patterns. The shoulder width, trouser rise, and jacket waist suppression are derived from male proportions rather than designed around a woman’s body. The result is a jacket that fits somewhere but not everywhere, wide in the back, narrow through the waist, or with a sleeve that falls at the wrong point. A pinstripe makes this worse because the vertical line runs true when the seams are in the right place and crooked when they are not. Building the suit to your specific measurements is the only way to fix this.
What is a canvas front and why does it matter in a women’s suit?
A canvas front is a layer of woven horsehair canvas hand-stitched between the jacket’s outer fabric and lining, rather than being glued in place with a fused interlining. In a fused jacket, the front is stiff and holds a fixed shape that may or may not align with your body. In a canvas-front jacket, the canvas floats and gradually molds to your chest and torso over the first few months of wearing. The jacket becomes more yours the more you wear it. Canvas front construction is rare in women’s tailoring at any price point. The difference is visible and tactile once you know what to feel for.
What are the 10 pinstripe options?
Navy chalk stripe bold, light grey pinstripe medium, medium grey pinstripe medium, dark grey pinstripe medium, light navy pinstripe medium, dark navy pinstripe medium, black pinstripe medium, off-white pinstripe medium, navy blue stripe bold, navy red double chalk stripe, and grey brown double chalk stripe. The price is the same for all ten. Dark grey is the most versatile, formal enough for any professional context, distinctive enough to read as a deliberate choice rather than default suiting. Navy reads as slightly less severe and works well for creative industries. Black is the most graphic and the most editorial. Light gray is the quietest of the ten and the most appropriate for warmer settings.
Can I order the jacket and trousers separately in different sizes?
Because both pieces are made to your measurements rather than a size, there is no concept of different sizes for top and bottom. The jacket is built for your shoulders and chest. The trousers are built for your waist, hip, and inseam. They are cut from the same cloth for visual consistency. If you want to discuss ordering just one piece, contact us before ordering.
I am sensitive to wool. Can I still order this suit?
Yes. Super 130s merino is a fine, soft wool that most people with wool sensitivity can wear comfortably. If you want extra protection, a full trouser lining extending to the hem rather than to the knee is available on request at no additional charge. A complimentary allergy-protection service is also available on request. Contact us when you order to arrange this.
How long does the full process take?
Allow 6 to 9 weeks from order to final suit. The test suit typically takes 2 to 3 weeks to build and ship. Once you confirm fit adjustments, the final suit takes 4 to 6 weeks in production. If you have a specific event or deadline, tell us when you order and we will confirm whether the timeline is workable.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Both the test suit and the final suit ship worldwide via trackable courier. Delivery times vary by destination.
Can I have the suit made in a different fabric or color?
The ten pinstripe options on the product page are the standard range. If you have a specific fabric or color in mind, contact us before ordering and we can discuss whether it is available and any effect on pricing or lead time.

Suit Fit Guide
Women’s Suit Fit Guide
Choosing the right fit is essential in creating your custom suit. It determines the silhouette and how your test garment will feel before final tailoring.
Slim Fit
Streamlined and tapered for a sleek silhouette. The jacket is closely fitted through the shoulders, chest, and waist, with narrower sleeves and higher armholes. Pants sit at the waist and follow a slim line through the hips and thighs, with a narrow leg opening.
Best for: A lean frame or those who prefer a sharply tailored, body-contouring look.
Standard Fit
Softly tailored for a balanced, classic silhouette. The jacket offers gentle shaping at the waist with a natural fit through the shoulders and chest. Sleeves are slightly tapered with standard armholes. Pants sit comfortably at the waist with a straight fit through the hips and thighs and a moderate leg opening.
Best for: An average build or anyone seeking a versatile, comfortable fit for business or everyday wear.
Relaxed Fit
Designed with extra ease for all-day comfort. The jacket has a looser cut through the shoulders, chest, and waist, with fuller sleeves and lower armholes. Pants offer a relaxed fit from waist to hem, with added room in the hips, thighs, and leg opening for easy movement.
Best for: Those who prioritize comfort or prefer a roomier silhouette, particularly around the waist and shoulders.
Women’s Suit Fit Guide
How a Woman’s Suit Should Fit
A suit is judged in seconds and worn for hours, so the fit has to be right in both senses: sharp enough to command a room, and comfortable enough to sit, reach, and move all day. The good news with a custom-made suit is that fit is not a gamble. There are no standard sizes to squeeze into, you tell us the fit you want and your measurements, and we cut the jacket and the trousers or skirt to your body. Before we cut your final cloth we send a free test garment, so the fit is confirmed on you first.
This guide explains the three fits we offer and the points to check so your suit sits the way you want it to.
Step One
Choose your fit
Slim Fit
Closely tailored through the waist and hips with a defined waist and a lean trouser or skirt line. The sharpest, most modern silhouette. Best if you like a body-skimming look and are comfortable with less ease.
Standard (Classic) Fit
Shaped and tailored, but with a little more ease through the body for comfort and movement. The most versatile choice and the one most people are happiest in, flattering without feeling restrictive.
Relaxed Fit
The most room through the body, with a softer, easier line and a straighter trouser. Ideal if you like to layer, prefer a contemporary oversized look, or simply want maximum comfort.
Step Two
The fit checkpoints
Shoulders
The seam sits right at the edge of your shoulder, where the arm meets the body, with no overhang and no pulling. This is the one line we cut precisely to you, because the shoulder is the hardest area to alter later.
Bust & chest
The jacket closes cleanly with no strain or gaping at the button and no pulling across the bust. A well-cut women’s jacket shapes around the bust rather than flattening or straining over it.
Waist
The jacket nips in at your natural waist for shape, closely on a slim fit, gently on a classic fit. You should be able to fasten it and still sit comfortably.
Length, sleeve & leg
The jacket ends around the top of the hip and the sleeve finishes at the wrist bone. Trousers break lightly at the shoe or skim to a clean ankle; a skirt sits at your chosen length. You choose all of these.
Every suit is made to your measurements with no standard sizing, in the fit you choose. A free test garment confirms the shoulders, bust, waist, and length on your body before your final cloth is cut, and the test garment is yours to keep.
Your Worries, Answered
The doubts most women have, and why you can relax
I have never bought a suit I could not try on first. How do I know it will fit?
Because you do try it on first. After you send your measurements, we make a free test garment in a stand-in cloth to those numbers and post it to you. You put it on at home, check the shoulders, bust, waist, and length, and send us your notes and a couple of photos. Only once you are happy do we cut your final cloth, so the finished suit is not a leap of faith, it is a fit you have already seen and approved on your own body.
I need this for a specific occasion and I am terrified it will not be right on the day.
Tell us the date when you order and we plan the whole timeline back from it, including the free test-garment stage, so there is time to confirm the fit and make any adjustments with room to spare. For a dated event we recommend ordering two to three months ahead. Because you approve the fit on the test garment before the final suit is cut, you are not walking into your occasion hoping it fits, you already know it does.
I am nervous I will measure myself wrong.
You do not have to be perfect. Our guide walks you through each measurement, a friend or a local tailor can help with the tricky ones, and if you are unsure you can send your best numbers. The free test garment exists to catch any small error before it matters, we see the fit on your body and adjust, so an imperfect first measurement is completely normal and nothing to worry about.
I have always struggled to find suits that fit my body. Is this really for someone like me?
It is made for exactly you. The women who struggle most with off-the-rack, a fuller bust, a small waist, broad or narrow shoulders, a long or short torso, are the ones who benefit most, because we cut to your proportions instead of forcing you into a size. There is no shape that is wrong here; there are only your measurements.
My body is not a standard shape, one shoulder is higher, or I am fuller on top. Can you actually cut for that?
Yes. Custom-made is built for real bodies, not idealized ones. Note any asymmetry or particular concern in your order, or show us on the test garment, and we adjust the cut, a higher shoulder, a fuller bust, a shorter waist, and confirm it before the final cloth is touched. This is precisely what a bespoke process does that a size on a rack never can.
It is a lot to spend on something made just for me. What is my safety net?
Your safety net is that nothing final, and nothing costly, is cut until you have approved the fit on the free test garment. You are not paying for a gamble, you are paying for a suit whose fit you have already confirmed on your own body. And a well-made suit that actually fits gets worn for years, so the cost per wear is usually far lower than the compromise suits that sit unworn in the wardrobe.
What if the suit arrives and I am not happy with it?
The final suit is cut to the exact fit you signed off on the test garment, so surprises are rare by design. If anything still needs a tweak, the finished suit carries generous seam allowances so a local tailor can fine-tune it, and you can always contact us and we will help make it right. You are never left alone with a suit that does not work.
What if my weight changes before the event, or afterwards?
Take your measurements as close to the event as you can, and if your size shifts before we cut the final cloth we simply adjust to your new numbers. For afterwards, the finished suit is made with seam allowances so a local tailor can take it in or let it out within reason, and we keep your measurements on record for any future pieces.
